July!!

We spent the month of July visiting family. First we traveled to Heber, AZ to spend a week with the Alton bunch. We played games and ate cookies and played in the water, we had a marshmallow gun war and cleaned Grandma Gigi's house as well as visiting her and singing to her. We enjoyed a family talent show and got to attend a reunion lunch with Andrew's high school class. I met some of Andrew's old friends and we enjoyed the 4th of July parade and fireworks. It is always fun to catch up with family and we had a wonderful time!!

Grandma and Grandpa Alton got a pool for the kids and they loved it so much, the kids were in and out of it all day every day.
Seriously, whose kid is that white??

"Hey mom look at my balloon!!!! Oops, I'll just get another."

During the talent show these two goofs decided that their talent would be to draw a beautiful picture for all of us. We finally encouraged them to allow others to exhibit their talents while they worked on their masterpiece, which was finished after a mere 30 minutes.
Alex and Andrew were supposed to sing the "Skunk Song" but then Alex decided he wanted to do it all by himself. I was so impressed with him. I'm still working on getting the video. (See the two artists still going?)

Whether eating marshmallows or shooting them at each other, everyone had a good time.

Waiting for the parade. (Note, an umbrella such as the one pictured above will not keep the UV rays from bouncing off the road and giving your baby girl a really sad looking sunburn, made all the more noticeable because of the headband line)

 SUGAR COOKIES!!!!

I made cookies three times during that week because I am trying to be everyone's favorite
On July 3rd this little girl learned to roll from her back to her belly and she has been rolling all over the place ever since, well except when her dad puts her in a laundry basket and she can't roll.
After a fun week in AZ we headed to Cedar City, UT to spend a couple of weeks there. I was planning on helping Lindsay seeing as she was nearing the end of her pregnancy with triplets. That crazy person wouldn't slow down or let me help with anything. I was secretly happy when she got put on bed rest in the hospital because then I got to feel useful! I didn't document our time in Utah very well but we did have a fun time. We of course played games and Grandpa and Grandma Holyoak came to visit. We ate a ton and played with paint and play dough and bubbles. Andrew spent a few days shadowing doctors while we played at the park and visited the library. We shopped and we spent lots of time hanging out in Lindsay's hospital room. The only downside of our trip to Utah was that we had to go home before seeing those little babies.
We must really like to put kids in laundry baskets

Andrew is a super dad and he pulled those kiddos around the house for ten minutes, I sure love him!

Hanging out in the hospital. I think the hospital staff and neighboring patients were glad when our vacation time ended and we had to take our noisy three year old home.

The drive home took us twelve and a half hours. After one stop for lunch we dropped off sweet Kynlee in Cresent Junction with her Grandma then we stopped to feed Mckenna, then we stopped to feed ourselves again. As we got back into the car I declared "Next stop home, I don't care if you have to throw up or go to the bathroom, no stopping." Well we didn't make it out of the parking lot before discovering that the tire was flat. We had to unload our filled to the brim car in order to get to the jack and then Andrew hit his head on the back hatch of the car so he had to butterfly the laceration (Student Doctor Andrew informed me it is a laceration because it was deeper than it was wide).
An hour later with the tire changed and the car reloaded we started out again, we stopped two more times, once to help Alex take off his jacket because it was "making him sick" and then once more when he actually was sick. Good times.

We found a bike for Alex at DI in Cedar City. Super dad got him some training wheels and now my little boys prayers to play play dough and paint with Grandpa and Marie have been replaced with prayers asking "to ride my bike lots of times." It breaks my heart a little to see my little boy riding his bike all over the place, isn't that something big boys do?

I just realized you can't tell what we are doing in these pics. We decided to finish out our last weekend of vacation with a visit to the park to fly kites.
 Mckenna cheered us on!

Anyone see what is wrong with this picture?

This sweet little girl turned 6 months old. At 6 months she can roll all over the floor, she likes to eat oatmeal cereal and she has found her voice. During a 45 minute drive this month Mckenna jabbered at me until the last ten minutes when she fell asleep. Mckenna loves her binkie and her big brother. She has decided that she likes eating in the night once or twice. I have tried to tell her that once you start sleeping through the night there is no going back, but she doesn't listen to me. Mckenna loves attention and will almost always give anyone a smile. She is happy and nice and we are all wrapped around her little fingers.

June!! (Yes I'm still way behind)

Andrew only went to school for part of June, then began our crazy busy, 6 weeks of summer vacation. We spent the first week and a half at home cleaning the house and going on picnics or visiting the library or playing at the park. Sadly I took very few pictures.

After being put to bed this is how I found Alex's cars when I went to check on him. Seeing little cars and little shoes around the house makes me happy. Any other kind of mess tends to make me grumpy.
We got a deal on Rockies tickets (then spent our whole budget on parking) so we headed downtown for a game. I think the games are lots of fun and Alex usually stays entertained. Sadly the Rockies did not win.

Mckenna started solids, sometimes she likes to eat and sometimes not so much. I really don't like the mess of this stage of eating. Although I have learned that the mess continues from now on, maybe it will end when my children go to college.

This is his house, can't you tell?? And his snacks.
No good picture for her at 5 months, but I did include the progression of the picture taking attempt.

Then of course big brother joined in.
I just love these two kiddos so much!

The final weekend of June we traveled to Moab to visit Grandpa Joe and Grandma Marie. We had a fun fun weekend and they were so sweet to us in helping us make marshmallow guns and a Kube game and taking Andrew to the Arches for the very first time. They then saved us when our air conditioner broke in our car as we headed to Arizona by letting us borrow Marie's Traverse. Dad and Marie are so generous and kind to us and we just love being with them! Thanks so much for the fun weekend!!!
We went to sand dune Arch because Alex LOVES to play in the sand.

 Grandpa and Mckenna just chillin

We of course went to The Diner, because it is my favorite place to eat in Moab!

How come messy ice cream faces are so so cute?
Alex still always prays that Grandpa and Marie can play play dough and paint with him so they bought paint and play dough at the store. We may or may not have competed to see who could make the best clay figures. Don't tell Dad, but I totally won!

At one point during the weekend Andrew was trying to keep Alex awake in the car (I would have been grouchy with him too). This is the progression of waking and then cheering Alex up.
